Essential Oils with Leather

Leather is a natural absorbent product that is perfect for creating a wearable essential oil diffuser. By putting your favorite essential oil on a wearable or portable leather piece, you can carry the scent and therapeutic benefits around with you. You don’t need to saturate the leather, just a few drops will do to give off the scent throughout the day!

DIY Leather Essential Oils Diffuser Bracelet

Leather bracelets make great essential oil diffusers! The Realeather® Mystery Braid bracelet can be left unbraided for modern appearance or braided to create a stylish look. Start by braiding the bracelet, adding any embellishments or coloring it as desired. Once finished, add a few drops of the essential oils to the backside of the leather bracelet. Depending on the type of leather and the color of the leather, the oil may leave a slight discoloration so it's important to add it to the backside of the leather. Remember some oils are not safe for skin contact, be sure the oil you use is safe for topical applications.

You can also use deerskin or suede lace to create a wrap bracelet like the one shown below from One Essential Community blog post: How to Make a Diffuser Bracelet in Less than 2 Minutes. These bracelets are easy to make and can be customized however you like!

DIY Essentials Oils Baby Lovey

Created by our friend Kelly Moore, of Crochet by Kelly, the Baby Lovey is an innovative way to use the therapeutic benefits of essential oils and leather. Born from the desire to help soothe a fussy baby, Kelly crocheted a baby turtle lovey with a small leather piece on which any type of essential oil could be placed. Lavender oil may help aid sleep or a eucalyptus/peppermint blend may help if the little one has a cold. In this project, Kelly used the Realeather® Mini Links to crochet into the turtle lovey. This created a vehicle for the essential oils while also keeping the majority of the lovey a soft and cuddly material.

DIY Essential Oil Necklace

Another way to wear essential oils is to create a leather pendant to wear on a necklace. The example below shows that the oil can be added to the Realeather® Marsala Acanthus heart-shaped pendant or to the attached Realeather® Suede Lace in rich black.

While leather is a great way to incorporate essential oils in your daily routine, it also gives you a stylish and subtle way to enjoy these therapeutic oils.
